2017 Nine Suns Cabernet Sauvignon Sunbird

The 2017 Sunbird is a solid value and certainly plays with the top wines at the price point. Largely Cabernet Sauvignon, with 10% Grenache, 8% Cabernet Franc, 6% Syrah, and the rest Merlot and Malbec (that’s a blend you don’t see every day), it has lots of darker berry fruit, notes of toasted spices, chocolate, and dried herbs, full-bodied richness, and a supple, character-filled style I suspect is best enjoyed over the coming 7-8 years.
