The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Drew Vineyard is another pretty, perfumed wine. Blue fruits, cassis, sappy herbs, bay leaf, and foresty, piney notes all emerge from the glass, and it's medium to full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with no hard edges and plenty of polished tannins. Give bottles 3-4 years and enjoy over the following 10-15.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Drew Vineyard is a powerful, massively tannic wine. In most vintages, I would not be concerned with this sort of tannic profile for a young Mount Veeder Cabernet, but in 2017, I am not sure there is enough underlying fruit to stand up to all of that structure. Pine, menthol, licorice, graphite and black cherry notes emerge from a wall of piercing, powerful tannins. The Drew is not especially easy to taste in the early going and should be cellared for a few years before opening.

A chewy red with lots of blackberry and blueberry character. Conifer and dried-mushroom undertones. Full-bodied. Tannic yet polished. Drink or hold.

Very deep purple-black in color, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Drew Vineyard comes charging out of the glass with profound blackberry pie, plum preserves and blackcurrant cordial notes followed by suggestions of bouquet garni, tilled soil, tree bark and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has loads of earth and char-laced black fruits with a firm, chewy texture and a savory, rather hard finish.
