The 2018 Pinot Noir Sous le Chêne has a pretty, pleasantly rustic, earth-tinged perfume of potpourri, underbrush, dried flowers and blood orange. The medium-bodied palate begins silky and saline in character, fleshing out to an array of spicy accents and finishes with juicy acidity calling you in for another sip. 222 cases were made.

The 2018 Pinot Noir Sous le Chêne is the most aromatic of the Domaine de la Côte Pinots. Readers will find a wine built on perfume, acid and tannins, with the fruit pushed into the background. Chalk, mint, sage and dried flowers all add layers of nuance to the red berry fruit. Taut and vibrant, with terrific depth, the Sous le Chêne is another wine that is going to need time in bottle to come around. Patience will be rewarded.
