Made with almost all whole-cluster Syrah, the 2018 Syrah Lagniappe offers a bright and lifted floral nose with elements of crunchy red fruit and potpourri spice that overflow from the glass. Medium-bodied, the wine has impressive balance and shows a dusty floral frame with fine-grained tannins before offering a delightfully lingering finish. This will remain food-friendly for over a decade. Bravo!

Sorrel, woodsy aromas; moss and prunes. Cocoa powder-dusted dark fruit. Dry and astringent and clenched with knuckled tension and driftwood-rough tannins. Tea leaves and lavender and loaded with a substantial, structural Marmite/yeast-extract umami bitterness. (TC)

Dark-fruited on the nose with inciting spice and herbs peeking through. Full-bodied with fine tannins. Rich, ripe fruit, but it never feels too heavy. Smoke and ginger come through. Well balanced with good complexity and intensity. Drink or hold.

Good full, deep red. Musky aromas of raspberry, graphite, mocha and minerals. Smooth, savory, vinous wine with modest sweetness and depth. Shows good peppery lift but not the depth of flavor of the 2017. This slightly narrow wine finishes with reasonably suave tannins but a faint green streak. With further aeration, the tannins turned a bit dusty and dry. Not my favorite style of Syrah. The label says 13.5% alcohol, while the other Gramercy Cellars Syrahs are listed at 13%.
