2011 Donkey & Goat Syrah Fenaughty Vineyard

(33% whole clusters; includes 2% co-fermented viognier): Vivid ruby. A heady, complex bouquet evokes red and dark berry liqueur, incense and floral pastilles, with a smoky nuance building in the glass. Spicy, penetrating and pure, with very good depth and energy to its sappy black raspberry and boysenberry flavors. The floral quality comes back strong on the finish, which is framed by supple, slow-building tannins and shows excellent persistence.
