2010 Donkey & Goat Syrah Fenaughty Vineyard

Opaque ruby. Potent aromas of blackcurrant, violet, spicecake and smoky minerals, with a note of cracked pepper building in the glass. Shows very good energy and power in the mouth, offering peppery black and blue fruit flavors that are lifted by smoky mineral and floral nuances. Closes sweet, focused and very long, with dusty tannins adding grip and intense berry and violet pastille qualities that linger on the palate. This fragrant, lively syrah would fit comfortably into a blind tasting of top-notch northern Rhone wines. (JR)
