Tasting notes
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a gorgeous entry-level wine from Clos du Val. Sensual and so inviting, the 2018 will be a real pleasure to drink right out of the gate. Inky dark fruit, grilled herbs, graphite and lavender open effortlessly in the glass, all framed by silky, poised tannins.

Composed of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate sports a deep garnet-purple color, offering open-knit, fragrant notions of warm cassis, blackberry pie and boysenberries plus touches of clove oil, dark chocolate and violets. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with ripe, juicy black fruit, supported by ripe, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on a floral note.
The 2018 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is floral, delicate and nuanced, with quite a bit of aromatic lift and less of the overt richness that has characterized some recent vintages. This is an especially elegant version of the Estate, and yet there is plenty of depth too.
