Tasting notes
The 2018 Cabernet Franc Hirondelle Estate Vineyard is plush, generous and very easy to like. I can't say there is a ton of varietal character, but the 2018 is nicely done. Black cherry, chocolate, spice, new leather and tobacco develop in the glass, filling out the layers nicely. Best of all, the 2018 will drink well right out of the gate.

Composed of 79% Cabernet Franc and 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Cabernet Franc Hirondelle Vineyard has a medium to deep garnet-purple color, leaping from the glass with vibrant scents of black raspberries, redcurrant jelly and warm black cherries, plus suggestions of pencil lead, cedar chest, cinnamon stick and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, juicy red and black fruits coat the mouth along with a lovely burst of freshness and plush tannins, finishing long and spicy. Yum!
The 2018 Cabernet Franc Hirondelle Estate Vineyard is once again incredibly promising. Nothing in particular stands out; instead it is the wine's exceptional balance that makes it truly special. Clos du Val blends in a fair amount of Cabernet Sauvignon (21%), but that works well. The 2018 is obviously a very young wine, but it has real palate presence and tons of energy.
