Score 94/100 · Drink 2000-2005, Robert Parker, Dec 2000

The 1999 Chardonnay Sbragia Limited Release reveals structure (due to the cool growing season). Dense and thick, with an unctuous texture as well as fine underlying acidity, smoky oak, rich, leesy, hazelnut married with copious quantities of tropical fruit, and a flamboyant personality, this sensational Chardonnay should drink well for 4-5 years. Pale gold color, deeper than the "regular" reserve chardonnay. Superripe aromas of apricot, tropical fruits, honey, smoke and bacon fat; distinct waxy suggestion of botrytis. Thick in texture but conveys a strong impression of acidity. A rather powerful, slightly aggressive chardonnay with real thrust. Very long and vibrant on the aftertaste.
