Tasting notes
The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Limited Reserve possesses a dense color along with lots of red and black currant fruit, but its processed feel and tart acids make it taste clipped and rustic. Both of these wines came across as extremely acidified and manipulated, with the acids far too high for the level of concentration. Such acidification adjustments give the wine a tartness, compress the texture, make the finish very angular, and exacerbate the rawness of the tannins. Those are problems with both of these wines. While they may have had wonderful raw materials, those components have been undermined by the acidification. Tel. (707) 257-1770

Saturated ruby color. Brooding aromas of cassis and bitter chocolate. Concentrated, even a bit gritty, with heavily extracted flavors of cassis, dark chocolate and black pepper. A rather powerful if inelegant style. Finishes with slightly raw, building tannins and very good breadth.
