Tasting notes
The Spreitzer 2007 Oestricher Lenchen Riesling Kabinett smells of apple, clover, and elder flower, with alkaline overtones. Delicate and wafting on the palate - with dissolved CO2 enhancing one's sense of invigoration - this combines impressive cling of mineral and fruit with the ultimate vinous refreshment that only genuine German Riesling Kabinett can supply. An excellent value, it should remain delightful for most of two decades. The clarity, lift and refreshment that nearly always characterize Rieslings from Andreas and Bernd Spreitzer are present in spades in a vintage that brought out those qualities even where they are usually not noticeable. But that isn't to suggest Spreitzer wines lack profundity, and in fact they have seldom if ever displayed more of that, either, than in 2007. Very precise modern version of the traditional fruity style – arguably more exciting than their trocken styles. Lovely purity and freshness. (JR)
