Tasting notes
The 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru is broody and backward on the nose, not willing to show much at all. The palate is sweet and quite extracted, offering sappy, slightly bitter fruit, more black than red, and revealing some aggressive tannin on the finish. Maybe this will improve with bottle age, but I prefer the Chambolle Les Carrières by comparison. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2015 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Reignots comes from the domaine's 0.10 hectare of vine adjacent to Comte Liger-Belair's that offered just a couple of barrels in this vintage. It has a very succinct and refined bouquet, pure and sensual in style, focused and exuberant with plush red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannin, the new oak (100%) neatly integrated with very good depth on the spicy, energetic finish. It has the substance to age with style and dare I say will represent one of the best values from this outstanding premier cru.
