Straw-yellow. Soil-driven aromas of flinty, petrolly minerality, oyster shell and menthol. Broad, silky and suave yet with terrific energy and sappiness to the flavors of lemon, lime and wet stone. Less detailed today than the Preuses, but the slowly building, palate-saturating finish has to be one of the longest of the vintage. This wine, too, shows its great site more than it does the very warm 2009 vintage. For Chablis connoisseurs.

Hazy appearance following a recent batonnage Nose dominated by metallic crushed stone and flinty minerality ("for riesling lovers," observes Hervet). Then big, rich and sweet in the mouth, with a strong pineapple flavor. Much cooler and more primary on the slowly building whiplash of a finish, which features superb citric energy and a tactile thickness. One senses that this extremely young wine is just starting to take on its textural richness. This will no doubt be bottled on the late side. The highest in acidity and lowest in pH of these 2009s.
