Offering a fleshy mid palate with lots of mouth-watering acidity and an ultra-long finish, the Zephyr Farms Vineyard Chardonnay shows notes of light beach grass, lemon curd on toasted croissant, and integrated spice. The most focused of the Red Car Chardonnays. Slightly reductive, opens with air. (ECB)

Apricot, peach, butter and tropical-inflected notes open up in the 2012 Chardonnay Zephyr Farms Vineyard. The flavors are quite bold and intense, but the wine remains light on its feet given Red Car's preference to pick on the early side. Drink this mid-weight Chardonnay over the next few years. The combination of overt flavors with brighter overtones is quite appealing.
