The 2010 Syrah Coastview Vineyard is gorgeous. Harvested all on November 6, with a brix at 23.5 and a pH of 3.5, it's a remarkable effort that boasts incredible focus and purity in its pure blackberry, spring flowers, ground herbs, mineral and hints of game-like bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, with a silky, lightly textured style, it has fabulous length, integrated acidity and a focused finish. It should be at its best from 2016-2026.

(aged in 66% new oak for 27 months): Opaque ruby. Oak-tinged black and blue fruit aromas are sharpened by suggestions of mint and fresh flowers. Warm and expansive in the mouth, offering juicy blueberry and cracked pepper flavors that become tighter with air. Closes fruity and long, with building tannins and very good clarity. Winemaker Bradley Brown told me that this fruit was picked on November 6th, at 23.5 degrees Brix and with a pH of 3.5.

Plums, black cherries, smoke, tobacco and tar are some of the many notes that inform the 2010 Syrah Coastview Vineyard. A juicy, pliant Syrah, the 2010 Coastview is showing beautifully today. There is plenty of early and medium-term appeal in this elegant and impeccably balanced Syrah. I especially like the sense of immediacy here. The 2010 spent 27 months in French oak.

The 2010 Syrah Coastview Vineyard is shaping up nicely. Firm tannins support the expressive fruit in this textured, layered Syrah. Blue and black fruit, violets, licorice, tar and smoke flow through to the powerful finish.
