Score 89/100 · Drink 2004, Robert Parker, Aug 1999

The son of Gary Gott, a longtime California wine-maker, Joel Gott appears to have done well with one of his first releases. A classic Amador wine, this 1997 Zinfandel is full-bodied, rustic, and rich, with copious quantities of fruit, a peppery, briery, black cherry-scented nose, lofty but not excessive alcohol (14.5%), excellent purity, and a chewy mid-palate. This low acid, hedonistic, seriously-endowed Zinfandel should drink well for 4-5 years. Tel. (707) 942-1109
