Bright ruby-red. A complex, impressively expressive bouquet evokes ripe red and dark berries, vanilla, allspice and candied flowers, and a zesty mineral topnote adds urgency. Sweet, penetrating blackberry and cherry flavors slowly tighten up on the back half. Concentrated yet lithe, showing impressive power and vivacity on the long, spice-laced finish, which is given shape by fine-grained, sneaky tannins. This wine shows the heft of the vintage but comes off vibrant and graceful.
