(13.5% alcohol; bottled in March; from deeper, less mineral soil in Charmes du Bas): Medium straw-yellow. Deeper in pitch than the extraordinary Bourgogne Cuvée d'Exception, displaying a somewhat exotic quality to its yellow peach and lichee flavors. In a ripe, sweet style, conveying serious volume to its lightly saline soft citrus and mirabelle flavors. This generous, large-scaled, rather easygoing wine is suppler than the Clos des Grands Charrons.

The 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes comes from four of the six parcels located in the premier cru. It has a light citrus and limestone-scented nose that needs to show a bit more...conviction. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, touches of orange rind and mineral, nicely weighted on the finish that makes up for the aromatics that need to muster more intensity.
(mostly from the lower part of the cru but includes some fruit from higher up; Château de Meursault owns 5 hectares of Charmes, with the average vine age around 45 years): Pale yellow. Yellow fruits on the nose; smells fatter and more buttery, and less minerally, than the Clos des Grands Charrons. Concentrated, generous and dry, with a strong flavor of fresh apricot. Not particularly taut but tactile and long.
