Medium to dark ruby-colored and offering lively red fruit scents, the 2000 Echezeaux is a supple, suave medium-bodied effort. Plump, sultry, yet well-balanced, it coats the mouth with copious layers of satiny cherries. Projected maturity: now-2012. Good full red. Highly aromatic nose combines exotic oak spice, cracked pepper and mint. Juicy, tight and rather folded in on itself; densely packed but not yet showing its sweetness. This is nicely backward for the vintage and fresh and firm on the back end.
