Balanced alcohol without sacrificing concentration through the mid palate, this is a lovely 2019, in a classical, graceful year. Cabernet Sauvignon dominant in terms of character, with its freshly cut mint leaf and graphite tannins. An upscore from earlier tastings, this lingers on the palate, with a mouthwatering finish. Valentin Perrot technical director along with cellar master Christian Alquie 60% new oak. Eric Boissenot consultant, harvest September 19 to October 8.

The 2019 Camensac has a slightly higher toned nose with perhaps just a smidgen more VA that just gives the red fruit a bit of a kick. The palate a touch soft on the entry, simple and without the complexity that this vintage offered on a plate. This is a perplexing showing given its impressive performance after bottling. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting.

Tasted blind. Second bottle – simple colour. Buttery nose. Rather pinched fruit. Very light and simple and austere. (JR)

The 2019 Camensac has only improved since I tasted it earlier this year, adding floral aromas of violet and rose to its attractive bouquet of dark berries and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, it's a lively, concentrated wine that concludes with a long, penetrating finish.
