Lastly, the 2021 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is possibly slightly dark hued compared to the Rosella's and, as with all of these 2021s, was fermented with lots of whole clusters and brought up mostly in new barrels, although it shows almost zero oak influence. It's unquestionably the biggest and richest wine of the trio, with a touch more obvious stems in its smoky red and black fruits, black tea, spice, and nutty, meaty nuances that slowly give way to more violet, rose, and floral nuances with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied and beautifully concentrated, with a layered, broad, expansive mouthfeel, it has plenty of tannins, good acidity, and a great finish. While it's slightly softer than the Rosella's, it's also more concentrated. Give bottles a couple of years in the cellar, and like the Rosella's, it will evolve for 10-12 years.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is a powerful, driving wine. Red/purplish fruit, blood orange, chalk, white pepper, mint and dried herbs all race across the palate. Stern and unyielding, the 2021 is going to need time to soften. It is an unusually severe young Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot, yet it offers tons of intrigue.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is surprisingly earthy, savory and advanced for where it is in its maturation curve. Turned earth, leather, tobacco and crushed rocks lead to an inky finish with a more refined grip than the other two ‘21s in the range, but it feels a bit tired today. Drink soon.
