Score 88/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2013

(15.8% alcohol): Medium red. High-pitched, musky aromas of peach, herbs and white pepper (I might have picked it as a white wine had I sniffed it from a black glass). Then supple and spicy in the mouth, with dark cherry and dark berry flavors joined by herb and menthol elements that carry through on the slightly bitter-edged finish. Like most of the 2011 zins here, this one is marked by the cool vintage.
