Still rather youthful, structured and concentrated, almost bursting with dark chocolate, blackcurrants, flowers, oak char, graphite and dried blueberries. Tobacco, iron and Kalamata olive nuances come out as you sip. Full-bodied, ripe and well laced with tannins that remain a bit taut. Drink now or hold.

(100% cabernet sauvignon, from the highest rocky part of the vineyard; aged in 75% new French oak): Bright ruby-red. Brooding, soil-driven aromas of black raspberry, mocha, dark chocolate, tobacco and dried herbs. Nicely concentrated dark cherry, licorice and spicy, oaky torrefaction flavors are accented by peppery herbs and complicated by earthy nuances. Offers good energy and definition but the wine's firm, dusty tannins turn a bit dry with air. (A second bottle was a bit more green in the mouth and dry on the back end; I would have guessed it was a 2011.)

Medium bodied, with a smoke, licorice and black raspberry personality, this soft wine ends with dark chocolate covered cherries. Give it a year or two for the tannins to soften. 91 Points

Sweet tobacco, menthol, new leather and cloves lead to super-ripe black cherries and plums in the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Padrone. A rich, explosive wine, the 2010 has plenty of early appeal, but also the density to age gracefully for a number of years. The Padrone is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, mostly from parcels in the back of the property.
