Score 89/100 · Drink 2015-2025, Robert Parker, Jun 2015
The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc) was also aged 26 months in new 85% new French oak. An attractive dark plum/ruby color, with only a little pink at the edge, this wine offers up a big nose of Christmas fruitcake, cedar wood, forest floor, spice, and black and red currants. It is medium-bodied and shows relatively silky tannins, but the overall spiciness and earthiness dominates. The angular finish kept my score from going higher, but this is excellent wine, and certainly capable of lasting at least another decade.
