Tasting notes
A bright ruby color, the 2021 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast comes 58% from Thorn Ridge Vineyard, with the rest from Rice-Spivak. Expressive and detailed on the nose, it’s refreshing with ripe raspberries, grenadine, fresh spices, and fresh wildflowers. It has a medium-bodied richness, although it saturates the palate with refreshing energy and salty accents to balance its well-defined tannins and good tension. It also has lovely, pure fresh fruit to make it feel approachable now. It should age gracefully over the coming 10-12 years.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast comes from the Rice-Spivak (42%) and Thorn Ridge (58%) vineyards and was matured for 20 months in 20% new French oak. It has alluringly earthy aromas of wild fennel, tree bark, charcuterie and woodsmoke that complement a core of cranberry sauce and spice. The light-bodied palate is silky and seamless with crunchy red fruit and a long, ultra spicy finish. 115 cases were made.
The 2021 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is a terrific introduction to this range. Floral, silky and bursting with red-toned fruit, the 2021 is immediately alluring. Sweet floral and spice notes add to its considerable appeal. The 2021 offers an attractive combination of Russian River-like juiciness in a mid-weight, airy style that speaks to understatement.
