Tasting notes
The 2015 Cabernet Franc is plush and inviting, with a striking interplay of Franc aromatics and pliant, resonant red-toned fruit. Silky tannins and soft contours give the 2015 much of its immediacy and sheer appeal. A dollop of Malbec rounds out the blend in this attractive wine from Hourglass.

Coming from just 2-acres of Cabernet Franc in the estate vineyard, the 2015 Cabernet Franc Blueline Estate is a Saint Emilion lookalike with its plum, blueberry, and cassis fruit that’s supported by ample damp earth and chocolate nuances. Deep, medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, and with silky tannin, it’s a sensational Cabernet Franc that can be enjoyed today or cellared for 10-15 years.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Franc Blueline Estate is scented of red currant jelly with mulberries and violets plus a chargrilled meat undercurrent and a waft of bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is well defined with a solid structure of chewy tannins and lively backbone supporting the muscular fruit, leading to a spicy finish.
The 2015 Cabernet Franc Blueline comes across as very ripe, sweet and also a bit heavy. It will be interesting to see if more varietal notes develop over time. As this stage, the Cabernet Franc is backward, monolithic and not at all expressive.
