(previously called Corte u Nico; an 81/19 blend of cabernet sauvignon and malbec): Bright full red-ruby. Aromas of black raspberry, cassis, dark chocolate, cola and minerals. Like liquid silk in the mouth, with a saline element to the lush, palate-saturating dark fruit and new oak flavors. Concentrated, dense and sweet but with excellent shape. Finishes with big, dusty, noble tannins and excellent subtle persistence, but needs time in bottle to absorb some of its sweet exotic oak.

Loaded, long, powerful yet elegant, this velvety offering delivers everything one might want in a Malbec. This pleasure bent effort should see its 20th birthday in peak condition. Vina Cobos is a partnership between Paul Hobbs, Andrea Marchiori, and Luis Barraud. The new releases are further confirmation that Vina Cobos is one of Argentina’s great producers.
