2011 Carlisle Three Birds

(made from 78% grenache, 16% mourvedre and 6% syrah, from 5 different sites): Vivid ruby. Smoky raspberry and candied cherry on the nose, with subtle white pepper and mineral notes adding interest. Sappy red berry flavors gain power and sweetness with air and show a floral nuance on the back end. An immediately appealing, seamless wine that finishes with very good breadth and power.
