Tasting notes
(essentially young-vines Santenots) Redcurrant, lime leaf, mint and fresh herbs on the nose. Soft, pure and juicy, with red fruit flavors showing a restrained sweetness. A lovely little Volnay that will be at its best four or five years hence. This will rely more on its ripe acids than its very fine tannins for aging.

Produced from the youngest vines of the Santenots (7 and 25 years-old), the 2002 Volnay reveals fresh red cherry aromas and a lovely, medium-bodied personality. Fleshy, intense, and with resiny cherry flavors, it displays admirable depth of fruit, a lush texture, and a long finish. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. (from the young Santenots vines; this was to be have been bottled in December) Medium red. Lively aromas of red cherry and flowers. Nicely juicy and fruity, if not particularly complex. And not at all short. The same wine from tank showed very good color; aromas and flavors of bitter cherry and dark berries; and a slight herbal element. This should make very pleasant early drinking.
