From a site on Atlas Peak, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Cordes Vineyard has a big, sexy nose of crème de cassis, mulberries, and blueberries that give way to more crème caramel, toasted spice, and violet aromas and flavors. It's a rich, full-bodied wine, yet it's beautifully balanced, has a good sense of freshness, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It shows the structure and tannic grip of this mountain terroir and will benefit from short-term cellaring and keep for 20 years or more.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Cordes Vineyard offers a more approachable expression of Atlas Peak than the Stagecoach Cabernet in this tasting. Plush and deep, but with plenty of stuffing, the Cordes conveys plenty of mountain structure balance with succulent fruit. Dark cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and pipe tobacco meld into the creamy finish.
The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Cordes Vineyard bursts from the glass with bombastic scents of baked black cherries, boysenberries and mulberries leading to a core of crème de cassis, unsmoked cigars and new leather plus wafts of pencil lead and scorched earth. Tightly wound and densely laden on the full-bodied palate, it has a firm, chewy texture and just enough freshness to support the earth-laced black fruits, finishing on a persistent mineral note.
