Tasting notes
Limpid ruby-red. An expansive bouquet evokes fresh red and dark berries, musky rhubarb and potpourri, while a subtle vanilla note sneaks in. Juicy, appealingly sweet and lively, offering sappy black raspberry, cherry, rose pastille and spicecake flavors complemented by a hint of smokiness. Shows impressive energy for a ripe vintage and betrays no rough edges on the very long, sweet, floral-driven finish.

The 2014 Pinot Noir Abbey Ridge Unfiltered has a crisp and minerally bouquet. Apparently they have decided not to use any Pommard clone here, as it was not providing the density that it usually imparts. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, blackberry and boysenberry fruit, good backbone here, a fine bead of acidity with a very focused, elegant finish that lingers in the mouth. Very fine, very classy.
