I found much to like on the nose, where subtle tropical scents of guava and passion fruit slowly give way to more resinous aromas. The palate is very well focused, offering freshly sliced pineapple and Conference pear and gradually gaining depth with aeration, though I would have preferred a little more tension right on the finish.

(aged in French oak barrels, 25% of them new, for 16 months) Limpid yellow. Potent, mineral-accented tropical and orchard fruit aromas show very good clarity and a sexy floral overtone. Taut, minerally and delineated on the palate, which displays juicy pear, tangerine and pineapple flavors that become deeper with air. Concentrated yet lively as well, closing taut and very long, leaving dusty mineral and citrus pith notes behind.

Opening with exuberant white peach, lemon curd and grapefruit notes with suggestions of marzipan and crushed stones, the medium-bodied 2015 Chardonnay Estate delivers refreshing citrus and minerally flavors with a racy acid line and good length.

The 2015 Chardonnay Estate is solid, slightly straight forward white that offers pretty apple, spice and floral aromatics, medium-bodied richness, a supple, textured profile a clean finish. Coming mostly from the Rincon Vineyard (28% was from Rosemary’s), it spent 16 months, on lees, in 25% new French oak. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years. Talley Vineyards is unquestionably one of the leading estates in the Edna and Arroyo Grande Valleys, which are both distinctly cool-climate, ocean influenced regions located south of San Luis Obispo.
