Tasting notes
A step up, the 2020 Pinot Noir John Sebastiano Vineyard comes from a site on the eastern side of the Sta. Rita Hills. It has a smoky nose of ripe red and black fruits, spring flowers, and underbrush. This carries to a pure, vibrant, focused Pinot Noir with good acidity, silky tannins, and a great finish. It's one of my favorites in the lineup. I surprisingly found a few of these latest Pinot Noirs from Foxen to be muddled and overtly earthy. Nevertheless, it’s big lineup of wines and there’s lot to like and choose from.

The 2020 Pinot Noir John Sebastiano Vineyard is a wild, potent wine. Black cherry, game, tobacco, licorice and gravel add to an impression of burly intensity something that is reinforced by the potent tannins. The JSV feels stressed today, either because of the heat of the year or its bottling about two months before this tasting.
