Tasting notes
Featuring own-rooted vines planted in 1989, a single puncheon of the 2021 Syrah Tinaquaic Vineyard Old Vines was produced. In a dramatic step up from the introductory bottling, the nose here is laden with quintessential aromas of black fruits, cured meat, olive brine and dried flowers. The palate beautifully combines ethereal delicacy with svelte, plush intensity, finishing with an ever-expanding, woody, saline and savory finish. This is especially dynamic in the glass, and I look forward to tracking its evolution in the cellar.

Blackberries, gamey herbs, sage, and pepper are just some of the nuances in the 2021 Syrah Tinaquaic Vineyard, a medium to full-bodied Syrah offering ripe tannins, terrific balance, and outstanding length.
The 2021 Syrah Tinaquaic Vineyard Dry Farmed emerges from the upper blocks of the vineyard. It presents a more aromatic and red-toned profile, with mid-weight structure and tons of finesse. Own-rooted vines yield a Syrah that is incredibly distinctive and also quite expressive, despite having just been bottled.
