Saturated deep ruby. Aromas of dark berries, mocha, brown spices and smoked meat. Densely packed and sweet, with varietally accurate flavors of blackberry, pepper and smoked meat. Finishes dry and juicy, with a suggestion of exotic fruits.

The dense purple-hued 2004 Syrah Tinaquaic Vineyard offers up scents of lead pencil shavings, blackberries, creme de cassis, licorice, and smoky barbecued meat. Full-bodied, concentrated, backward, but promising, it requires 1-2 years of bottle age, and should be consumed over the following decade. Tel. (805) 937-4251
