(Roumier made just half a barrel from 0.13 hectare of vines in En Orveaux, entirely with whole clusters): Good full red. Nose dominated by exotic spices (from a feuillette ) and licorice. Juicy but a bit lacking in flesh today, with strong raspberry and strawberry fruit intensity leading to a firmly tannic, slightly dry finish. Hard to taste today. This tiny parcel came to Domaine G. Roumier in 2016 through a share-cropping agreement with investors.

0.13 ha, En Orveaux. One feuillette (114 litres) because the vineyard was frosted, so it is marked by new oak. 100% whole bunch. 70 bottles only! They may not sell it. Dark crimson. Lots of oak on the nose but amazingly rich fruit on the palate. Fresh and zesty with a bit of orange peel and beautiful fruit. Possibly the best Échezeaux I’ve tasted? Dense. Lots going on on the end. Really deep and intellectual. (JR)
