Tasting notes
Red-ruby. Red berries, graphite and nutty oak on the nose. Tightly wound and distinctly cooler than the young 2001, with flavors of currant and tobacco leaf. Has a smaller tannic structure than the young 2001, but with less texture and mid-palate ripeness this shows some dryness on the back.

The 2000 vintage is obviously not of the same quality as 2001 and 2002, but Arrowood has fashioned a very good but slightly pinched, moderately tannic 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Speciale. The wine was closed from bottle, but exhibits a broodingly deep ruby/purple color in addition to aromas of loamy soils intermixed with herb-tinged, cedary, black currant fruit. It does not reveal the texture, persistence on the palate, and volume found in top vintages of this cuvee. It needs 2-3 years of cellaring, and should last for 10-15. (Release date Spring 04) Tel.
