The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Williams-Rossi is a single-vineyard wine from Frog's Leap's estate vineyard in Rutherford. Supple contours wrap around a core of vibrant red-toned fruit. Blood orange, spice, pipe tobacco and pomegranate all race across the palate. Some of the fruit was fermented in barrel, which amplifies mid-palate sweetness and texture. Exotic floral and citrus overtones linger on the long, silky finish.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Grown is classically styled stuff, done well and priced realistically. Mixed red and black cherries join subtle shadings of sage and vanilla on the nose, while the medium-bodied palate is streamlined but not overly lean, with gentle padding around the core of acidity that forms the wine's spine. Softly tannic and long on the finish, it may be consumed young or aged up to a decade.

Ripe red and black fruits, darker chocolate, and some smoky tobacco notes all emerge from the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Grown, a nicely balanced, elegant, impressive Cabernet Sauvignon from this team that has ripe tannins and outstanding length.

Full bottle 1,292 g. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc organically grown and dry farmed. Aged for 20 months in new to 5-year-old French oak barrels (no more than 10% new). Unfined and unfiltered. Lower alcohol than most – like Spottswoode, another organic/biodynamic follower. 7,100 cases produced. Bright crimson and real energy on the nose. Very distinctive. No attempt at sweetness or concentration but a pure expression of fruit. A wine to drink and enjoy rather than one to marvel at. So full of life! Dry, ‘cool’ finish and great healthy fruit on the way there. Sinewy, polished tannins. Long. QGV (JR)
