Score 90/100 · Drink 2008-2014, Robert Parker, Jun 2008
The 2006 Syrah from the Denner Vineyard reveals that classic precision and wet rock/crushed stone character that come from this estate’s limestone soils. Deep blackberry and cassis fruit characteristics interwoven with hints of spring flowers and earth are followed by a strikingly elegant, medium-bodied, gorgeously pure wine. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Even in such a challenging vintage as 2006, this vineyard’s limestone soil characteristics are obvious in these four offerings’ precision, exceptional minerality, and definition. Most of these wines are made from various degrees of whole clusters and aged in 500-liter puncheons. Tel. (805) 239-4287; Fax (805) 239-0154
