Score 91/100 · Drink 2021-2030, Neal Martin, Nov 2021

The 2016 Chardonnay Radicales Libres comes across very yeasty on a flor -tinged nose that takes some getting used to if you are not accustomed to this style of wine. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and a waxy texture, again, quite flor -like toward the finish. It gains more freshness with time, though it never quite blossoms into anything profoundly complex. I preferred the 2012 tasted a couple of years ago, but this is still an intriguing and distinctive wine.
