2018 Christopher Tynan Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vines Meleagris Gallopavo Vineyard

One of my favorite wines from Napa Valley is undoubtedly the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Meleagris Gallopavo Vineyard from Christopher Tynan, who is also behind the incredibly quality at Clif Lede. The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Meleagris Gallopavo Vineyard reveals a dense purple color as well as a Château Margaux-like bouquet of blueberries, cassis, spring flowers, sandalwood, and green tobacco. More violets and damp earth emerge with time in the glass, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and a seamless, lengthy finish. It doesn't quite have that extra dimension found in the 2013, 2014, or 2015, but it's a classic, age-worthy Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that will gain richness and depth over the coming 4-5 years and I suspect evolve for 30+ years.
