Score 90/100 · Drink 2013-2016, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Aug 2013

The 2010 Syrah Right Hand Man is a smoking value that’s loaded with character. A blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Petite Sirah that spent 18 months in 10% new French and American oak, it dishes out fantastic complexity for the price point with cassis, licorice, wild herbs and caramelized meat aromas and flavors all emerging from the glass. Medium-bodied, plush and pure, with notable tannin, it’s a serious wine for very little buck. Enjoy it over the coming year or three. Drink now-2016. These value-priced efforts are made by McPrice Myers and offer ridiculously good drinking for not much money. The wines are, generally speaking, upfront and fruit-loaded, yet always offer solid complexity, good richness and overall very well-made profiles. Tel. (805) 237-1245; www.barrel27-mcpricemyers.com
