Score 92/100 · Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com, Jul 2025

Pouring a dark red color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Tilton Hill is forward with roasted aromas of charred earth, espresso, black cherry, and pine. This medium to full-bodied Pinot offers a more assertive and ripe feel, with a supple, ripe texture and a more savory finish. A brooding wine, it may take some time to unwind and does have some underlying acidity to hold it together.

Fruit for the 2022 Pinot Noir Tilton Hill was picked both before and after the Labor Day heat wave, and the wine was matured for 16 months in 52% new French oak. It has slowly opening scents of wild berries, bergamot, woodsmoke and iron, continuing to unfurl additional aromatic nuances as it airs in the glass. The medium-bodied palate is firm and bright with concentrated, complex flavors and a long, spicy finish. It will benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar or a couple of hours in a decanter. 399 cases produced.
