Tasting notes
An absolutely magnificent wine, but a limited production (about 250 cases), this wine exhibits an opaque purple color and a sweet nose of cedar wood, licorice, blackberry and cassis fruit and darker cherries. The wine is full-bodied, opulent, shows decent acidity, very supple but noticeable tannin, and a terrific, multilayered mouthfeel. This is the best wine I have ever tasted from Martin Estate. It should continue to drink well for another 20+ years. ($250.00/magnum)

The estate's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Collector's Reserve is quite pretty and expressive, although it is still not fully formed. There is gorgeous intensity to the dark red and blue fruits, but some slightly angular contours remain. Hints of smoke, tobacco and leather add nuance in a deep, powerful wine that needs at least a few years in bottle.
