Tasting notes
Deep, brilliant red. Highly perfumed aromas of fresh red fruits, potpourri, exotic spices and candied rose. Juicy and seamless in texture, offering penetrating raspberry, cherry preserve and spicecake flavors highlighted by a smoky mineral flourish. Intensely flavored and sharply defined, with an impressively long, perfumed finish that delivers firm, spicy cut and resonating florality.

Grown on volcanic soils, the 2017 Pinot Noir Le Pré du Col Vineyard opens with a touch of tarry reduction, giving way to nori, mushroom powder, smoked cranberries, blackberries, dried leaves, pencil shavings, aniseed and dried flower aromas. Medium-bodied, the palate is dark and broody with a firm, grainy frame and good freshness on the long, perfumed finish. This merits another couple of years in bottle.
Thereâs a very complex nose here with a wealth of rich red and dark plums and a very succulent, assertive and balanced palate. This is built for a longer haul than most. Very persistent and enduring tannins. Try from 2023.
Perfumed and structured. Firm and fine and chalky finish. Really quite sophisticated. (JR)
