A disappointment for sure is the 2014 Proprietary Red Three Graces, a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with some Cabernet Franc. But again, the wine shows the narrowly framed, monolithic, compact style of wine that has been preferred from Clos Du Val for nearly 40 years. Drink now-2022.

The 2014 Three Graces is a new wine from Clos du Val that replaces the former Reserve. Inky, rich and powerful, the 2014 possesses superb intensity and resonance, with plenty of dark fruit spice, lavender and French oak notes. I suspect it will be at least a few years before the 2014 starts to show its full potential.
