2008 Red Car Chardonnay Boxcar

Light, bright yellow. Musky citrus pith, peach pit, iodine and smoky lees on the ripe nose, along with a suggestion of spicecake. Densely packed and spicy, with a restrained sweetness and a strong smoky undertone to its lemon and pit fruit flavors. Finishes with good stony cut, slight warmth and lingering leesiness. This first chardonnay from Red Car is made from mostly old Wente clones.
