Score 91/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous
(a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah; this was the first vintage vinified by Peter Sisseck, the maker of Pingus) Deep red-ruby. Crystallized red fruit, milk chocolate, game and tobacco aromas, along with smoky, nutty oak. Lush but solidly structured, with a firm spine of acidity. Flavors of redcurrant, mocha and tobacco; somewhat claret-like in style. Finishes with substantial, mouthdusting tannins.
