Score 91-94/100 · Drink 2007-2017, Robert Parker, Oct 2004
Impressive is the 2002 Wilhelmus Estate Proprietary Red, a Bordeaux blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot, 10% Malbec, and 10% Petit Verdot aged two years in French oak, of which 50% was new. Its dense purple color is accompanied by gorgeous aromas of graphite, cedar wood, black currants, and licorice. The fragrant perfume is followed by a full-bodied red reminiscent of a top-flight Pauillac. Complex, elegant, and intensely flavorful without being heavy, it will drink well between 2007-2017. Bravo!
