Bottled. Finely dusty citrus. Bone dry and chalky, classic, with a nice chalky texture on the finish. Mouth-watering and tight but not terribly concentrated. (JH)

Sébastien Dampt's family has been making wine for over 150 years in Chablis. He studied in Beaune and worked stages in various countries before returning to the family domaine (Daniel Dampt) in 2005. He created an estate under his own name in 2007. Made with the fruit from 45-year-old vines from five parcels. 100% stainless steel. (Adam Bruntlett) Really quite broad on the palate with good freshness and chiselled structure. Quite a mouthful! With a streak of greenness. (JR)

The 2016 Chablis Villages has another rather anonymous bouquet that just does not have much to say. The palate is simple right from the start with a pleasant salinity, but it needs more tension and mineralité on the rather anodyne finish. Strangely, under blind conditions that Petit Chablis shows better.
